Get Involved!

Welcome to Paper to Pearls on Campus!  Through this exciting campaign, we work with student organizations on college campuses across the country, providing an opportunity for students to make a difference in the lives of the people in the internal refugee camps of northern Uganda, by selling paper bead necklaces made by women in the camps, while earning money for their organization's activities.

Student organizations that choose to participate in ourcampaign have the choice of two options:

1) We send you an Action Kit with sample necklaces and basic supplies and information needed to host a successful sales event.

Each sample necklace is labeled with a number. Customers fill out an order form with the number of the necklace(s) they wish to buy and pay with cash or check. All of the money and the order forms are sent to us, and we ship the necklaces to the buyers.  We also send a check to your organization for 20% of the sales!  You can also keep the necklaces for a future campaign or send them back to us.

The Action Kit includes:

  • Promotional tips and ideas to make your sales event a major fundraiser for your club!
  • Background information about northern Uganda
  • Informational and promotional flyers
  • Information about the Paper to Pearls initiative
  • An informational DVD
  • Paper to Pearls brochures

2) We send you a packet of 30 – 50 necklaces in a variety of colors and styles (single, double or triple strands) that you sell at your campaign event, retaining 20% of the sales and sending the balance to Paper to Pearls.  In this option, you secure the value of the necklaces with a credit card number that we retain and then discard once we receive your payment.  We also provide as many of the Action Kit items as you would find helpful.  Once again, 20% of the proceeds is yours to keep.
