Welcome to Paper to Pearls on Campus! Through this exciting campaign, we work with student organizations on college campuses across the country, providing an opportunity for students to make a difference in the lives of the people in the internal refugee camps of northern Uganda by selling paper bead necklaces made by women in the camps, while earning money for their organization's activities at the same time.

Our campus campaign works in the following way:

1) Determine what type of event you would like to have. This will vary depending on the goals and objectives of your organization, and can range from showing documentaries about northern Uganda to sponsoring fashion shows highlighting African designers. Whatever the event, it generally serves as a prelude to promoting and selling the necklaces. A special "background" event is not required, however. We also work with organizations that simply set a day and place to sell the necklaces, spreading the word about a great sales event that is making a beautiful product available, while empowering women who are struggling to rebuild their lives and those of their families after two decades of war. It is totally up to you! Some organizations keep the event campus-based; others like to invite the larger community.

2) Decide when you'd like to host the event. Once that's determined, we send you a packet of 30 – 50 necklaces in a variety of colors and styles (single, double or triple strands). All are priced to sell to students, and are therefore considerably lower than our standard retail prices. All necklaces come with a tag that tells the story of our project as well as a lovely organza bag for packaging.

Paper to PearlsAll we ask is that you secure the value of the necklaces with a credit card number. We keep it on file and then discard it once we receive your payment for necklaces sold. And when we receive your payment, we immediately send a check back to your organization for 20% of the sales! If you have any unsold necklaces you can keep them to sell individually or for a future campaign or send them back to us.

3) Sales Support. We have several documents ready to go that provide information about Paper to Pearls, the conflict and our beaders. These can be emailed to you for use as background information and/or to have available at the time of your event.
