Paper to Pearls has received invaluable volunteer support since its inception in December 2005. From initial website design to photography and expert consultation on micro-enterprise development, we are enormously grateful to all who have offered their time and talents in support of our efforts to empower women and help alleviate poverty and marginalization in northern Uganda. Meanwhile, our interns, drawn from local colleges and universities, have been instrumental in moving our initiative forward.
We offer numerous volunteer opportunities. In particular, we encourage everyone who wishes to support us to be an advocate for Paper to Pearls in person and online, by telling friends and family―indeed, everyone you know―about our project and encouraging them to visit our web site and web store. We are also on YouTube with a five-minute video about our project.
We are always looking for support for our necklace sales at craft fairs and special events especially in the Washington, DC metro area. We encourage home bead parties and are delighted when someone offers to sell necklaces at the office. Everyone responds to the necklaces, particularly when they can see and touch them and hear the story. If you would like to help us sell the necklaces, please contact us!
